Hi everyone!
I can't believe it's been a week since my last post!
Life's been busy here at RH.
Hubby and I went to Cosco the other day and they were selling their 12 inch pots of hydrangeas for twenty bucks! These pots hold a plant that is approx. 3x3 feet, they are HUMONGOUS and held about 25 blooms!
I always buy them in the pot and cut my blooms from it. It's cheaper than buying a bouquet of hydrangeas and you can't get fresher than just cut from the plant. I was able to get 5 arangements from 1 plant.
They came in blue, pink and green, hubby chose the blue, either way, you can't go wrong with these beauties!
Aren't they gorgeous?
Here is another arrangement in a lovely ironstone pitcher.
I placed them in some vintage mason jars I found at the thrift store. I love the old zinc lids and decided to keep them on. I have one of these arrangements on either side of the sofa.
Here is the arrangement again with our freshly painted kitchen cupboards in the background!
Hubby decided to take the plunge and started painting them over the weekend. It's only taken 5 years! I will be doing a post on the kitchen makeover soon.
Yes, I'm still waiting to find that elusive "perfect" or just one that fits lampshades!
Here is another little peek. The family room has been repainted a pale blue, there are some new summer cushions added and the mantel has been beached up for summer! Yes it will be here before you know it.
Will be posting that shortly as well.
Thanks for stopping by.
Hoping you all have a lovely blessed Easter weekend!

I have two plants in my yard, they will be up before we know it, I bought them blue but my soil doesn't have enough acid in it to keep them they turn pink, I have tried everything and they come up pink...But they are still beautiful.

Awww, Hydrangeas are my favorite! They grew in enormous bushes on the outside of my house growing up...I even had them as my wedding flowers! LOVE, LOVE them =)
ReplyDeleteI bought 2 hydrangea bushes last year - same color flowers as the ones you've shown. It's been a cold spring here in northern IL, so the bushes are just now budding again. I can't wait until I see the gorgeous flowers once again!
ReplyDeleteMy grocery store was selling pots of hydrangeas for $19.99, but I doubt they were as big as yours. They were pretty! How long do they last in a vase?
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing your kitchen and family room changes!
Happy Easter to you and yours!
XO,
Jane

The hydrangeas are gorgeous, what a great deal! I love how you arranged them in various containers, they are such a beautiful flower, one of my favorites. I can't wait until mine blooms. :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your updates!
Have a happy Easter and a great weekend!! :)
Kim, your arrangements are beautiful! I never would have thought to buy an entire plant for blooms, but then it can be transplanted so that's pretty neat! Also, it just occurred to me that you can dry the blooms you cut, so your dollar goes further. Smart girl, you! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you remember, but I commented on your envelope pillow tutorial in February after I'd messed up super-simple curtains. I was sewing ego was definitely bruised after fiasco. However, I finally tried making the pillow covers yesterday with navy blue ticking turned inside-out (the color is faded and looks old that way!) and they came together perfectly. They were *so* incredibly easy and I have them on my couch as I type this. Love them so much! I can't wait to make more--I have a feeling I'll be making these for my mom and sisters frequently. Thanks for sharing that tutorial.
Happy Easter!
Erin
I saw those hydrangeas at our Costco the other day but the one's in our store didn't look that good :-(
ReplyDeleteYours look beautiful! And so does your home!
Gorgeous! I get little sad when people brag about the good deals at Costco, because the closest one to me is about 6 hours away. The price you pay to live in the sticks.
ReplyDeleteHydarangeas and fresh white paint, it doesn't get much better! Can't wait to see the rest of the pics, good job
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous HUBBY to envy. U have everything. So jealous.
ReplyDeleteHydrangeas are one of my favourite flowers. We're moving into our new house soon and I think the 2 hydrangea bushes are what really sealed the deal! I've enjoyed the little glimpses of your lovely home as well.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous hydrangeas and photo's Kim! Looking forward to seeing your new white kitchen and beautiful pale blue family room...I just love your style! ~Deb~
ReplyDeleteOh boy...I just bought some at Vandermeer and thought i got a good price for 10.99 they were on sale...need to take a visit to Costco..
