Hello everyone!
Hoping you're all enjoying the weekend!
I'm finally posting my newly painted kitchen cupboards, yay!
I had wanted to paint these cupboards since we moved into our house about five years ago but was afraid to take the plunge.
Hubby decided to finally start the job and we finished last week.
We used my favorite white by Ben Moore called "cloud white".
This is what they looked like before:
Since we moved in, I had done the backsplash, put beadboard around the peninsula. changed the countertop and changed out all the appliances to stainless steel. We only had the painting to do.
We had also put a new sink and faucet in when we changed out the countertop.
I put a little linen skirt under the sink as I wanted to wait to put the newly painted cupboard doors in there. I wanted to give the paint time enough to cure and this is such a high traffic area with the garbage and recycling, I didn't want the doors to be ruined. I'm kinda liking the skirt there now though.
Another view.
I love limes!
This is my beachy find that hubby and I saw washed up along the shore while going for our walk the other day.
I think it's part of an old wooden pallet.
Hubby dragged it home and managed to get most of the sand out of it, I just love the weathered grey look.
Love it with my beach mason jars.
Of course lavender and hydrangeas! lol.
You can see the tip of the old "boob" fixture here. We are getting rid of that fixture and putting two new pendants over the peninsula along with some pot lights. I'll post that when it's done. So excited to get rid of that light!
Hope you enjoyed my little kitchen makeover and beachy find!
Thanks for stopping by,
Be blessed!

You totally crack me up calling it a "boob fixture". My husband thinks I am so weird because I kept telling him all the "boob lights" in our house had to go. Hahaha!
ReplyDeleteI *LOVE* what you have done. I am sending you an email now...check your inbox. ;o)
Mary
Oh, my goodness!! Kim! I love it all! Where do I start?! :)

Hi Kim, Your Kitchen is an Amazing Transformation, What a Cozy Place~
ReplyDeleteWow. Great kitchen re-do and I love that beach find. It's fantastic. Especially love how you used it.
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen looks amazing Kim...love the sink skirt and all your stylin'! Painting cabinets is a big job but so worth it! ~Deb~
ReplyDeleteGorgeous kitchen! Love the white cupboards and the sink skirt is just cute! Thanks for adding your link to Beach Cottage Good Life Wednesdays.
ReplyDeleteJust found you at Apartment Therapy - your kitchen looks so beautiful! You did an amazing job!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! Do you need special paint or anything to do the cabinets? You inspired me to try it on my own.
ReplyDeleteLove the before and after! Amazing transformation with all the changes.
ReplyDeleteDo you have any Tips for any of us (like me) procrastinating on painting cabinets? Type of paint, prep work, sanding, etc.? I've read some info on This Old House and Young House Love and elsewhere, but I'd still love to know what you found especially useful to get that nice finish.
(my cabinets are really old, in a 1970s era condo, and I swear, I really think they're the original cabinets; they're painted white, thank goodness, and the prior owners did a decent job on the exteriors but really did a slap-dash job on the interiors, which I'll need to do some putty-fill, sanding, prep, etc. to, to get looking decent. I'm also tempted to fill the holes for the adjustable shelves with caulk, since I think the holes look cheesy. Honestly, if I had more $$ and hadn't lost so much in equity on the place, I'd spring for entirely new cabinets -- but if I could rehab these myself for the being *or* for "all time," so much the better!)
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have --
I love those glass containers near the over, gret for flour and sugar! Where did you find those?
ReplyDeleteYou may want to make a correction to your post. You typed "seen" when you should have typed "saw" (referring to the old wood found on the beach). : )
ReplyDeleteLove it! Curious ~ did you add the beadboard, as well?
ReplyDeletePositively gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Hi! I was wondering what you used to prime? I want to paint mine too but I'm scared of the the paint scraping off the sides where it's not real wood. Looks awesome and I might use your photos to convince my hubby to let me paint too.
ReplyDeleteHI! I just saw your kitchen on AT and I had to come over and congratulate you. And then I was excited to see you're from Ontario, like me.
ReplyDeleteIt's absolutely beautiful. And close to what I have planned for our new house. (I'm going to link to you in a post on May 11).

ReplyDeleteI am trying so hard to get a client to paint her cabinets white, but of course the husband is against it. I'm going to show her these photos!
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is just so gorgeous! I know you're so proud of it and you should be. Now don't cook in there - you don't want to mess it up!

It is FABULOUS. Love the skirt under the sink. Completely charming. I am looking at houses in Florida and on our budget they all have awful kitchens. You have inspired me to see what lies beyond the crappy dark cabinets.
ReplyDeleteI also love the changes to your kitchen. So bright and fresh and beachy too. Great styling of your photos! Love the skirt, subway tiles, hydrangeas and pillow, little carpet...everything looks fantastic.

ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is beautiful. I love the wallpaper color and design. I have always wanted to use wallpaper but have been afraid of the what if I don't like it, it is easier to repaint in my mind. What a refreshing change white can be.

Hi there! I was looking for pictures of open shelving and knew I should check your blog! Sure enough a gorgeous photo! I just love your kitchen! I was going to feature your photo with a link back to your blog of course for my Friday post, would that be okay? I was trying to inspire my cousin to do open shelving in part of their kitchen, I think your photo will help convince them :)
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is simply gorgeous! I love it all and your touches of blue - gorgeous! Your open shelves are so lovely! You did good!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Love the open shelving and all the natural light! That's my ONE complaint about my kitchen...the lighting is not good and being on the bottom floor of the house (with a bedroom above) there's nothing I can do to make it better! Boo!
ReplyDeleteI love how your kitchen turned out! The sink skirt is so sweet and all of your special touches really "make it." Well done!
ReplyDeleteMiss Mustard Seed
