Hey everyone.
Here is the new lighting I had mentioned in my last post.
It's made such a difference in the look and feel of my kitchen!
In the breakfast nook area we removed the one light fixture as it was sooo off-centered and put in four pot lights on a dimmer switch.

Here you can see all the lights we put in. On the kitchen end we placed 3 pot lights plus one over the stove
We removed the dreaded "boob" light and just drywalled over the hole.

We then placed two pendant lights above the peninsula where the sink is. These lights are from IKEA and were very reasonably priced.
This isn't the best before but it will give you an idea of how things looked.

This is a fixture that I got from Homesense and is done in a grey/cream faux stone look.
It's 24" across at it's widest point and has 8 arms to hold candles.
Still deliberating over this one as it is a large piece for my small space.
Now back to this fixture, I need some feedback here.
Does it fit in?
What about the colour and size?
What do you think?
ooooohhh, lovin' that!
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteHope you`ll enter my giveway; the deadline is this Friday!
Good luck!

I think it's beautiful! I don't have experience in interior design but the scale is perfect and it balances out the area with the pendants over the counter. The recessed lighting is wonderful too. Your home always looks fresh and bright and the lights have just added that much more - really beautiful!
ReplyDeleteglad to see you back to blogging, I greatly enjoy your posts! (and love your house!)hmmm...input on the fixture.....well.....I'm with you on the not sure feeling. it is a bit much maybe with the other 2 hanging lights. go with your feeling, you've got excellent taste!
ReplyDeleteoh how pretty - love the happy table spot & the fresh flowers just bring everything together & tempt us with springs arrival!

LOVE the fixture and I think it looks beautiful in it's new home!!
ReplyDeleteI adore the fixture. I would never have thought it was from Home Sense, but perhaps from a Paris market! I think it brings something special to the space, and I would definately vote to keep it!
ReplyDeleteYour new lighting has so much character - looks like an antique. I think it adds a lot of interest, it is a very nice size, and the candlelight dinners will be so peaceful!
ReplyDeleteI think it's cool! It's really unique, and the rustic quality seems to really work with all the rest. It's amazing how much nicer everything is with the new lighting... looks great!

All of the lights look fantastic and I love the one over the table. It is the perfect contrast to all of your whites!

Love your new lights! I think you made an excellent choice. Your eating area is so charming with your shelving, white dishes, wallpaper and skirted chairs. The new fixture is icing on the cake!
ReplyDeleteI think they all look great! We have the same IKEA light over our sink.
ReplyDeleteThe light fixture is fantastic! I love the rustic contrast with all the prettiness! I was wondering, how big is your circular dining table? Do you sit 4 or 6 around it? I am thinking about buying a new table and am trying to figure out the right size. Also, would you give a thumbs up for white skirted chairs, or are they hard to keep clean? I'm contemplating buying some, but the white makes me nervous.
ReplyDeleteWhat a huge improvement , well done , so charming
ReplyDeleteI love it. Since the other two pendants are on the small size, you need something larger to balance things out. It looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI love the new light over your table. I think it adds a lot of character. Love the two from Ikea lights as well. The tulips really pop against the neutral background. So pretty! :)
ReplyDeleteI love it! I think it's a perfect fit for your kitchen! Very pretty!

ReplyDeleteHi Kim I love love your new lighting , wow what a huge change. I started my own blog this week and I would like you to know your blog was one that inspired me to have my own blog...Thanks...Hope you can check it out sometime...Blessings Lori!
ReplyDeleteI have been longing for overhead lighting for years! My husband was going to install them but never did. Somehow I think it's a lost cause for now. I think everything in your kitchen/dining area look wonderful! The only thing I might suggest is a pretty tablecloth, but it's definitely not a necessity : )

I love all the new lights, including the one you were questioning!
ReplyDeleteYour light fixture over the table is NOT too large. It has presence and anything smaller would look dinky.
ReplyDeleteThis looks amazing! I love the finish on the new chandelier and think it has great contrast. The only question I have is whether you would really light the candles. Pretty & romantic, but would they drip wax on the table with any draft coming through the room??? Of course I tend to be one of those people that forgets to light the candles until halfway through the meal!!
ReplyDeleteLove those light! This must be a nice place to live. I like very much these photos and the others. Your blog is amazing. I will follow it.

I'm not sold on the chandelier for this space. It's got a lot of character, but has almost an industrial look to it. I think it might fit better in another color...like white or cream.
ReplyDeleteLove this lighting fixture! It's a good idea to decor house with chandelier installation. Decoration with chandelier added the more beauty and elegance look with home.

I think the one over the table is too low for the space. It dominates to much being so low....
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the new lights!!! The pot lights and the ikea lights especially - I'm sort of infatuated with the Ikea ones for our house!
